Creating Tax Structures

  1. Select the Tax Structures link in the Administration tab. This will open the Tax Structures page.
  2. Select the New Tax Structure link in the page header. This will open the New Tax Structure page.
  3. Type the tax structure code and name in the appropriate fields of the window. Tax Structure codes are alphanumeric and can include up to 8 characters. Tax Structure names are also alphanumeric and can include up to 40 characters.
  4. Type the tax percentage rate, general ledger code, and description for the first tax of the tax structure.
  5. Click the Tax Freight check box for the first tax if freight is also to be taxed for jobs/invoices when this tax structure is used.
  6. Repeat Steps 4-5 as needed for taxes 2 and 3.
  7. Click the Compound Tax check box if you want the Job Manager system to calculate each tax rate separately for the tax structure.
NOTE: Designating a tax structure as being a compound tax will calculate all three tax rates as separate single tax percentages. If the tax structure is not designated as a compound tax, it will be calculated as a single tax percentage.
  8. Click the appropriate taxable default options to enable/disable labor, material, and other items to be taxed when this tax structure is used for jobs and invoices.
  9. Click Add ( ). This will save the new tax structure to the database.
  10. Repeat this procedure for each additional tax structure you would like to define in the Job Manager system.
